Hvar Things to Do
Hvar is a beautiful island located in the Adriatic Sea. The island, which is part of Croatia, is a hot spot for tourists who want to enjoy fun in the sun during the spring and summer.
Beautiful Beaches Make Hvar Special
Hvar offers several beaches with crystal-clear water, wonderful scenery, and plenty of things to do. The best time to visit these attractions is during the peak season of May through September. The top beaches with the most things to do are Dubovica Beach, Carpe Diem Beach, Sveta Nedelja, and Zavala Beach.
Dubovica is breathtaking. It’s refreshing to swim in crystal green water after walking down the main street to get to the beach. There is also a small restaurant on the beach. You can enjoy great local cuisine while swimming in the largest beach on the southern coast of the island.
Carpe Diem Beach is reachable by water taxi. You can rent a lounge chair, relax, and swim in the middle of the beautiful Adriatic Sea. The music is lively and it feels like you are in a club.
Back on the main island, there is Sveta Nedelja. It is also called exotic beach because the sand is not typically found in Croatia. Furthermore, the seawater is simply wonderful. There are plenty of things to do on this beach, like swimming, climbing rock formations, and mingling with friends and other tourists. Just be careful in August when the beach gets too crowded and you are packed in line sardines.
Fourth, the Zavala Beach is known for its clear seawater, which is great for snorkeling. Be careful if you try to run or jump in the water because the ground consists of large and irregular stones. Overall, Zavala is part of four must-see beaches in Hvar.
Other Things To Do in Hvar
Once you’ve spent a few days touring Hvar’s beaches, you can find some intriguing things to do on the island. Notably, you can take a day trip to Blue Grotto. Several companies offer these tours and you can find out about their services on the beach promenade in Hvar.
One of the best things to do in Hvar is watching the sunrise over the beautiful water. You can do this at Hvar Harbour, where there are beautiful views of the surrounding islands. You can also return at the end of the day to enjoy dinner while watching the sunset, providing amazing photo opportunities.
Finally, there is the iconic Hvar Fortress overlooking the city. This must-see attraction contains a prison with several cells and a torture chamber that captures life during the Middle Ages. Even if you don’t go inside, you can catch a beautiful view of the island from the top of the fortress.
