Hindley Street in Adelaide and Other Warnings and Dangers

Warnings and Dangers in Adelaide Hindley Street

Located in the northwestern quarter of the central part of Adelaide, Hindley Street runs between West Terrace and King William Street. It is important when traveling here to be aware of any warnings and dangers for traveling in this part of town.

Don’t walk alone at night

Although Adelaide is fairly safe, it is advised that you do not walk Hindley Street at night by yourself. It is also suggested that you don’t walk through The Parklands at nighttime by yourself either.

Lots of police and taxis

While Hindley Street may not be the safest part of town, it is comforting to know there are lots of police and taxis in the area. But do keep in mind that during the summertime it can be a bit difficult to catch a taxi, especially at nighttime.

Lots of shops

There are many shops that run up and down Hindley Street, making it the perfect place to go shopping both during the day and at nighttime. As mentioned before, though, if you are going to come here during the nighttime, you will want to bring along a friend or two.

It can get noisy

At least the noise doesn’t usually come from crime, but it does nonetheless get loud and sometimes wild on Hindley Street. The loudest part usually comes during early morning around 5AM when the street sweeper comes through.

Transportation warning

You should always keep in mind that public transportation stops after midnight on the weekends. This means if you are walking down Hindley Street after this time, you will need to plan some other type of transportation to get you back to where you are sleeping.
