An AeroMexico aircraft flying from Cancun was hijacked and landed in Mexico City. All 104 passengers aboard were released by the hijackers, and local police reportedly stormed the plane and freed the crew.
Details of the hijackers are sketchy at this point, with reports ranging from a lone hijacker to three. Several sources report the hijackers are Bolivian citizens demanding to speak with Mexican president Felipe Calderon, though for unknown reasons.
Early passenger accounts of the hijacking paint the incident as remarkably low-key. One traveler said most passengers had no idea anything was amiss until the plane landed and was surrounded by police vehicles.
