We had a great time at Hersheypark in Hershey, PA, June 20, 21 and 22. We stayed at the Best Western, which is only a few minute drive to the park. The hotel was okay. It was $145 a night for the four of us with breakfast included, so it was a good value for the money. We only shower and sleep at the hotel as we try to stay in the park from opening to closing with maybe a short break.
Hersheypark employees and visitors are the most polite of anywhere we’ve ever been. The grounds are immaculate and the visitors are very respectful of the property and other visitors. We love roller coasters, and Hershey has some great ones. Great Bear is an inverted coaster with lots of loops and twists. Lightning Racers is a good wooden coaster and the new Storm Runner is great.
Visiting mid-week was great too because the lines were not bad at all. Many rides only had a one or two ride wait time. Nighttime lines are even shorter.
We ended up getting season passes for $104 each, as opposed to 3-day passes for $85 each. That includes the daily parking, 15% off food, 10% off souvenirs and 10% off chocolate in Chocolate World. We plan to visit again in the fall to get another use out of our passes.
Oh, and they also have some great entertainment. When you need to get out of the heat, there are several shows to see, some air-conditioned or shaded, where you can rest your feet and cool off. For us, it truly is the Sweetest Place on Earth!
