Hawaii by Sea

Author: Katie
Date of Trip: May 2012

My husband and I just returned home from the pride of America ship in Hawaii. I have absolutely no complaints about the ship. Not one person on the entire ship…. Specifically the people that gave up their lives to make sure that other people such as my husband and myself would be happy. It makes me cryat the stories the staff told us about how they live on a ship. So, they thrive on making people happy.

This was our very first cruise and I have wanted all my life to visit Hawaii. It was sure paradise! The restaurants that were included in our package were excellent. We also loved the poolside grill! The hot tubs were awesome. The people that straighten up the cabins, not once but twice a day and leaving little animals made out of towels on our beds at night meant that they took pride in every cabin to make sure we loved the cruise. I wish someone would come to my house twice a day to clean!

Now, on to the excursions themselves. We went on quite a number of tours and not one tour guide could be singled out as giving us poor service. In fact, they went the extra mile to make sure we saw everything on their tour and were greatly rewarded by us. The only island I was a little disenchanted with was Maui. When we got there, we expected to be able to go to the beach. We found out that the only way to do so was to pay $50 a person to see the beach. We were told at the beginning of the cruise that to be very careful taking a cab because of the safety issue. So, the first time we stepped foot on a beach was in Kauai…… the beach was simply amazing. We have never been on a beach before with mountains surrounding us. As a matter of fact, we felt like we were in a tropical paradise.. I left a piece of my heart in Kauai. Then there was the luau. I highly recommend that anyone who hasn’t been to a luau, should go to that one on the plantation. We had the best seats in the house so was worth the upgrade to see the show up close. Honestly, from the day we stepped off of the plane in Honolulu, till the day our cruise was over, we were treated like royalty! The one thing that needs to be mentioned is that people who have checked out when the cruise was over and had late flights should definitely make the trip to Pearl Harbor. That was such a bittersweet ending to an amazing trip. That is a must-see for everyone! So, my husband and I would absolutely recommend this cruise. We were first time cruisers any experience was so great that we will probably cruise again at some point. Thank you so much to all the wonderful staff on the cruise. I could never pick out one person on the staff who was great. They were all amazing! Again, I highly recommend this trip. This was my first time to Hawaii and I left a piece of my heart there.
