Prepare yourself for some shocking news from the air industry. Domestic fares are actually down for travel over Labor Day weekend and throughout autumn, reports Travelocity. Though demand remains strong, average Labor Day flights are down 1.2 percent, while fares for travel later in the season are down three percent. Though international fares remain pricier this year than in the past, many travelers will be able to snag a domestic deal.
Travelocity compiled data on the top destinations with year-over-year price decreases. They include Charleston, SC, (fares are down 24 percent), Atlanta (down 18 percent), Phoenix (down 9 percent), and San Diego (down 8.5 percent).
This data is great news for travelers planning fall getaways. Find more details about autumn deals in Associate Editor Christine Sarkis’ report on the top five bargain destinations.
