Girona Nightlife – Clubs, Bars & Nightlife Tips

Girona Nightlife

Girona is a small city in the northeastern corner of Spain. One of the centers of modern Catalan life, it comes alive at night when city’s medieval squares are flooded with happy crowds and light. Enjoy the city’s lively nightlife and reconstructed ancient city walls.

Explore the Walls

At one point, the defensive town walls were torn down to allow the city to expand. They have been reconstructed again in order to be historically accurate. The Passeig de la Muralla is a popular tourist destination during the day. Head here at night to see the city walls lit up. The walkways are easy to stroll across and you’ll get a marvelous view of the entire area.

The Onyar River

The Onyar winds through the entire town. This is the place to be during the evening when people gather by the riverbanks for an opportunity to enjoy the mild evening air. Stroll along the many avenues beside the river then catch a late night dinner. Many performers come out to demonstrate their dancing and musical skills.

Lively Squares

Girona has many squares with cafes and restaurants. This is where locals come to relax during the evening. Try the Placa Independécia, one of the oldest squares in the entire town. Dating from the 12th century, the plaza has a statue commemorating the country’s triumph over Napoleon and the way residents have chosen to participate in other independence movements. Two other squares to explore in Girona at night are Ballesteries and Rambla de la Libertat. Both are popular favorites for those who are looking for a real glimpse at local life. Look for bars and nightclubs.
