When you are planning a trip to Gangtok, India, there is plenty for you to see and explore during the day. But when the sun sets, you may be looking for something to do. This may include clubs, bars and nightlife. Here is a bit of information you should know about Gangtok nightlife if you are planning on visiting.
There is very little nightlife in Gangtok. This is a non-populated Buddhist area. It is secluded and a very religious, quiet area. As such, there simply is not much nightlife to be found. If you are looking to party, this is not the region for you to be in.
Where to Go
While there is very little nightlife in the area, there are a couple of places you can visit. The two most popular sources of nightlife in the area are Xscape and the Casino at Hotel Royal Plaza. Xscape is a combination nightclub and bar and is very small. The Casino at Hotel Royal Plaza has a little more to offer but is still relatively small and quiet. Aside from this, your only other options are to indulge in a nightcap at the local hotel bars.
What to Expect of the Nightlife
If you plan on visiting the one club or casino, be aware that nightlife is different there than you would expect. Most people are pretty quiet and stick to themselves. Also, both options can be dirtier than you are accustomed to. Also, keep in mind that both of these options are more for tourists than locals, so the scene can change nightly. If the crowd is rowdy, you can have a louder night. If the people are mellow, it can be a quiet night.
