Texas Sports Hall of Fame

Waco is the site of the Texas Sports Hall of Fame. Sports, especially American Football is big in Texas. So big that the Texas Sports Hall of Fame was constructed as a shrine to some of Texas’ greatest athletes. For a small fee, you can see uniforms, pictures, and memorabilia commemorating Emmit Smith, Troy Aikman, and many others.

Waco’s Historic Suspension Bridge

No, it’s not the Bay Bridge, but it’s cool in its own right. Waco’s Historic Suspension Bridge is open to the public and is an ideal place to walk around and stretch your legs. Built in 1870, it offered safe passage over the treacherous Brazos River. Up until this point, the river could only be crossed by fairly and only at times of the year when the water was low. The suspension bridge was a marvel of engineering for the time and made it much easier to transport cattle and other goods into and out of the city.
