Fun Things to Do in Tagaytay – Attractions & Must See

Tagaytay Things Do

Tagaytay is a small city by a volcano at a high altitude. This makes it relatively cool, and is an escape that is popular among  Filipinos in the capital city of Manilla. It’s a great vacation spot, so that is where the locals go, and that is a great recommendation for anyone going there from another country. It is a beautiful place, and there are several fun things to do.

Taal Island and the Volcano

Fortunately the volcano is not active, but it is beautiful. You can take a day trip there from the town of Tagaytay or even if you are in Manilla.  You can also take a boat to the island, which is the volcano and enjoy hiking trails through the hills. There is also the picnic grove where you can obviously have a picnic, and enjoy nature. There are several tours to the island, and it is easy to find one that will fit your tastes and your budget.

Picnic Grove

This is very close to the area around the volcano, but it is separate and well worth a second trip. You may rent a tricycle and ride around all day enjoying nature, or follow any of the trials. There is also horseback riding, ziplines, kite flying and just generally enjoying the scenery. The ziplines are fun, and there is a cable car system to get around short distances.

Shopping for Sweets

There is the Good Shepherd in nearby Baguio City that is a convent. Nuns here make confections and candies of all kinds. This is a good place to experience some Filipino sweets, like ube jam, as well as guava and mango jams. The jams and jellies are just the beginning though, with peanut brittle and many other candies made with various types of nuts. They also make pickles and relishes. You may enjoy eating it here, or take a lot of it home, as prices are very low.

People’s Park

People’s Park is a project that was never finished, but it is still fun to visit. It was once known as the Palace in the Sky, It is on the highest point in Tagaytay. It looks like an abandoned mansion and there are not a lot of activities, but it is a fun place to visit and walk around.

Other Activities

You may also enjoy the Casino Filipino, which is a typical casino in many ways, but it is a famous landmark. The Cliffhouse is a complex of restaurants where you can get authentic Filipino food, as well as foods from throughout Asia. There are also several flower farms that can be toured. It is a great time to get out the camera if you are there at the right time of year. Pineapple plantations are also an interesting tour you can take. Also don’t miss the Town Centre, which is a small downtown type area with many shops and restaurants.
