Frankfurt am Main Things to Do
Frankfurt is a German city, located in the center of the country. While in Frankfurt, visit the many gardens and parks, take pictures of 15th century homes in Old Town, and walk amongst Roman ruins.
Gardens and Parks
Mornings in Germany are very serene, especially in the summer months. After you wake up, take a walk through Palmengarten, Bethmann Park, or Nizza Gardens. The parks are safe and feature rows of flowers, trees, as well as open green space where you and a loved one can stretch out, drink your coffee, and take in the natural beauty.
The medieval town center, or Alstadt, is a great place to visit in the early morning hours. The streets are lined with half-timbered houses from the 15th to 18th centuries. The center of the town, Romerberg Market Square, was the site of the first Frankfurt Book Fair in 1480. Old Town is also home to churches, museums, and in the winter months, The Christmas Market.
Near the Frankfurt Cathedral, you can visit Roman ruins. The ruins sit in the open and you can walk through them and get a glimpse of what the city looked like thousands of years ago. The ruins are free of charge and are an ideal place to take history buffs and architecture nerds.
