    Orbitz' top picks are based on destinations other than the traditional college spring break haunts that were popular for spring travel. The top five of its top 10 are San Francisco, California; Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; San Diego, California; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and San Antonio, Texas.

    Hotwire's list looks at this year's top value destinations in the U.S. and bases its picks on discounts and low prices on airfare, rental cars, and hotel stays. It also looks at affordable entertainment and the overall appeal of the destination. The top five of Hotwire's top 10 are Phoenix, Arizona; Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas; Orlando, Florida; Denver, Colorado; and Atlanta, Georgia.
