I've always wondered what the truth really is about Carnival. Years ago, I associated the cruise line with Kathie Lee Gifford and wet T-shirt contests. Now, I connect Carnival with family fun and great deals. But then I ask, are "Fun Ship" cruises fun for couples, seniors, or solo travelers? Do low prices mean great deals or shoddy service?

I'm about to find out, and so are you. I leave on Monday for a five-night Bahamas cruise aboard the

    Fantasy

. The itinerary includes the Bahamas and Grand Turk, as well as Carnival's private island, Half Moon Cay. I intend to skip Carnival's shore excursions and explore the islands on my own, and blog regularly about my adventures.

If you have any questions about Carnival, the

    Fantasy

, or any of these islands, now is the time to ask. Send me an email at

    [email protected]

, and I'll try to respond in my blog.

And don't forget to check in regularly beginning Tuesday, October 10, for daily updates from the high seas.
