Escaped Bengal on the Loose in Colorado Airport

There was a Bengal on the loose in the Rocky Mountains, but it was an exotic Bengal cat, not a tiger, and the cat in question was in Broomfield’s Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport (check prices). Apparently Achilles the Cat has such a fear of flying that he opted to hang out in the airport bathroom’s ceiling rather than board a plane home.

According to the Daily Camera, a kindly pilot escorted Achilles to the crew bathroom so the kitty could use his litter box before boarding. Achilles had other ideas, however, and decided to make a break for it instead, jumping on to a sink and then up through a hole in the ceiling that was undergoing construction.

A staff member says the pilot returned empty-handed from the bathroom, and, “She said she had an emergency in the bathroom and needed a ladder. We didn’t know what that meant at the time.” The feline must have liked it up there, because he resisted being lured down by bells, other cats, and milk for three days. Achilles even missed his own birthday while he was in the ceiling. What was his Achilles’ heel in the end? Tuna!

The Internet is a weird, cat-full place (and I should know, since I just spent 30 minutes looking at cute pictures of Bengals … I love my job), so we imagine this kitty will probably end up on Ceiling Cat.
