    With stricter

    passport requirements

now in effect, getting into Canada may not seem worth the hassle for some travelers. There is a way around these regulations, however, and its name is the

    CAT ferry

    .

It's still legal to arrive in Canada by sea without a passport, making the CAT ferry, which travels between Maine and Nova Scotia, an appealing way to cross the border. This high-speed catamaran, run by Bay Ferries, extended its

    routes

last year and is now offering a $75 discount for those who book round-trip vehicle passage by June 1.

Summer is the best time to take a road trip, and it doesn't get much better than driving along the

    coast

in Maine and Nova Scotia. The CAT begins its service June 1, so it truly pays to book early.
