Dugi Otok Transportation
The Dalmatian Coast’s longest island is Dugi Otok, Croatia. If you need tips about taxis, trains or buses, check out these helpful transportation tips.
Ferry to Dugi Otok
You’ll be taking the Jadrolinija ferries to get to Dugi Otok, arriving in central Zadar if coming from Croatia’s mainland. There are several departures each day, and the ferry will take you to Brbinj port on Dugi Otok. The ferry takes under two hours. A catamaran can get you there in about half the time if you choose to head for Božava from Sali (in Zadar county), which is on the Northwest side of Dugi Otok. If you’re taking the ferry you can reserve a spot for a car or bicycle. If you’re going by catamaran, it’s unlikely they’ll have space for anything else.
Buses and Rentals on Dugi Otok
You can get around a vast majority of Dugi Otok by bus. Their public transportation links the bigger villages to the smaller towns and ports. There are two main bus lines that cover either side of the island, but there isn’t a single line between the Northwestern and Southeastern parts. Buses are cheap, but their limited schedules and flexibility may end up frustrating you if you’re a little cramped for time. Renting a motorcycle or a bike in Croatia or in Dugi Otok may be easier to do. You can get around on your own time and at your own pace. It also helps avoid the traffic in the area too.
