Shopping in Dubai Shops in Karama
Home to many of Dubai’s Indian, Pakistani and Filipino residents, the Karama neighborhood is always buzzing day and night.
Karama Centre Mall
Karama Centre is a shopping destination located in the heart of Dubai that has attracted local shoppers and visitors for over 10 years.
Over the years, Karama Centre Mall has transformed into more of a community mall, visited people from many cultures and locales. In addition to its staple shops, the mall hosts weekend entertainment, cultural activities and live concerts.
Karama Centre house some of the area’s premier jewelry and Indian textile outlets.
Karama Centre Market
The market, as opposed to the mall, is a collection of shops selling everything a visitor needs, including souvenirs, Arabian heritage items, pashminas, copy watches, fake handbags, cheap jeans and so much more.
The market is a series of small alleys lined with clothing shops and souvenir places on both sides of a busy road with parking areas. It’s a good place to find children and men’s clothing. Women’s clothing tends to be rather cheap-looking and available only in small sizes.
Vendors display a bewildering range of basic fake items. If they trust you, you may get access to higher brand knock-offs. Inspect any purchase carefully and do not expect watches to work for long – consider them decorative costume jewelry and you won’t be disappointed.
From May to October it will be hot in the close alleys, but the shops are air conditioned and shopkeepers will bring you a drink if you ask. There are water machines all over the place.
Expect to spend at least an hour looking for what you want. The market opens at 10 am, closes for lunchtime siesta, then opens until around 10 pm.
