Surrounded by stunning architecture and cobblestone streets, there are few places as wonderful to shop through as Dresden. But if the view isn’t enough to make your day, here are the shops, stores, best buys and inside tips to make Dresden shopping an excursion to remember.
The Altmarkt Galerie is a lovely old building now filled with shops of every description. Protected as a historic monument it is now the second-largest shopping mall in urban Dresden. The arches themselves are stunning, and all the planter pots outside are full of flowering Tulips (the nicest way to brighten up the grey cobblestoned pavement.) Shops of every description are located in the centre and the first floor alone may be enough to keep you busy for hours. There is an entrance from Postplatz Square handy for those using public transportation, and a parking station for people coming by car. The shopping centre is open from 9.30 – 9pm Closed Sundays.
