Does Norwegian Cruise Line still have senior fares? Its website used to list weekly senior cruise deals, but I have not seen any for months.
When I contacted Norwegian Cruise Line’s Corporate Communications Office, spokeswoman Kristi Bayne said the company still does offer senior fares, although the rates are no longer published and can only be accessed by travel agents. This means that you’ll need to call a cruise travel agent in order to book these deals.
While it may be annoying that you can’t quickly view all the senior deals yourself on the Norwegian website, calling a travel agent can help you find the best cruise deal, senior-specific or otherwise. Many travelers forgo brick-and-mortar travel agencies and book hotel rooms, flights, and vacation packages themselves, but cruise vacations are the one area of travel where using an agent is advisable. A good agent that specializes in cruises will be familiar with all the various ships, itineraries, cabins, and cruise promotions available, and will make sure you find the option that best suits your interests and budget. Some agents may even be able to offer you special perks such as a complimentary bottle of champagne or a cabin upgrade.
To find a travel agent in your area that specializes in cruises, search the travel agent directory on the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) website. Be sure to select “Cruises” from the “Specialties” drop-down list.
