Kissimmee

About

Kissimmee may sound like a command, but in reality it's the Walt Disney World bargain hunters' secret weapon, a way to stay close to the park without breaking the bank. The town of Kissimmee is a 30-minute drive from Orlando, and just about 15 minutes from the gates of Disney World. Known for its affordable hotels, motels, and vacation rentals, and an abundance of casual restaurants, Kissimmee offers a way to keep accommodations costs low without sacrificing convenience. Many Kissimmee hotels even offer free shuttle service to the parks of Disney and other nearby attractions. Kissimmee is close to more than just Walt Disney World. Universal Orlando Resort and SeaWorld Orlando are both a short drive, and the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is within driving distance as well. Kissimmee has attractions all its own, too. Old Town Boulevard features an open-air shopping district with restaurants, amusement rides; and on Saturday nights, America's largest weekly car cruise, where classic cars parade down Old Town's brick streets. Kissimmee is home to the Houston Astros spring training site and Disney's 200-acre Wide World of Sports Complex. Airboat rides and horseback riding are two more popular Kissimmee attractions. And Gatorland, the "alligator capital of the world" is just a few minutes from downtown. Kissimmee is a 30-minute drive from Orlando International Airport. The destination is hugely popular, so flights to Orlando are easy to find and competitively priced.
