When To Go

Indiana's weather is temperate and pleasant throughout most of the year. The most popular time to visit is during the summer, when the warmest temperatures and most annual events occur. The Indianapolis 500 attracts large crowds in May, causing hotel prices to rise and rooms to be in short supply in Indianapolis and the surrounding areas. Fall is also a peak time when people visit to see the changing leaves. Winter can be cold with light snowfall and is typically the least busy time. Spring offers mild temperatures and lower prices.

high season: May to October
low season: January to February
shoulder season: March to April, November to December
