Frankfurt, Germany

About

As Germany's financial center, Frankfurt is a common business travel destination. However, tourists will also find this city on the Main River enchanting. The skyline of "Mainhattan" shows off the modern side of the metropolis, but visitors do not have to search far to find history in the city. Travelers can visit the Church of St. Bartholomew, also known as the Imperial Cathedral, where Holy Roman emperors were chosen and crowned for centuries. The historic Romerberg square hosts many outdoor festivals, including the popular Christmas Market in November and December. And those looking for fun will certainly find it in one of the Sachsenhausen district's restaurants, live music venues, or bars. Flights to Frankfurt land at continental Europe's largest airport, Frankfurt International Airport. Rail travel is a major form of transportation in Germany, and the city's train station is the busiest in the nation.

When To Go

With a temperate climate and major events throughout the year, Frankfurt is a city for all seasons. The most popular time to go is during the summer, when schools are on vacation and the weather is at its warmest. November and December are also busy times to go, when the Christmas Market lights up the city and enchants visitors. The least popular time is in the late winter when temperatures drop and there are fewer events. Spring and fall can be ideal times to visit the city, as there are fewer crowds and lower prices, but trade shows can cause a high visitor demand.

high season: June to August, mid-November to December
