During the winter (May through September), the north is dry with temperatures averaging 68 degrees, while central Chile experiences average temperatures of 55 degrees with rain and snow. The north has dry and sunny summers (October through April), with temperatures ranging from 70 to 76 degrees. Summers in the central region are pleasant, with temperatures ranging from 70 to 85 degrees and 12 to 13 hours of sunlight. The southern region experiences four seasons, with cool summers, brisk falls, cold winters, and windy springs.

Crowd Information

Chile is the most crowded December through March when Chileans take their vacations and tourists from other countries visit. The time around Chile's National Day, from September 16 though 20, attracts considerable crowds as well. School vacations can also be very busy times. Many visitors flock to Chile for skiing and winter activities from June through October.

Closure Information

A few hotels in Torres del Paine National Park are closed from June through August.
