Delta pilots will weigh deal tomorrow

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports today that leaders from Delta’s pilots union will meet tomorrow to consider the tentative agreement between the union and the airline that was cobbled together by contract negotiators last week.

Reports have circulated over the past few days that the agreement adds up to about $290 million in savings per year for the airline. Union reps dispute those figures but have declined to offer any of their own.

It’s expected the new contract will pass muster and ultimately be approved by union leadership, but there are still hurdles to pass—specifically getting the deal through the rank-and-file members who already agreed to a 32.5-percent pay cut in 2004.

The new plan reportedly includes profit-sharing and retirement-benefit changes.
