With an eye toward expanding its international route map, Delta

    announced

yesterday it plans to make New York's JFK airport a new hub. The move is certain to be welcomed by Northeast travelers who are frequently carted off to Delta's Atlanta or Cincinnatti hubs to connect for international travel.

In all, Delta says it will increase its reach from JFK to 31 destinations this summer and it will add 11 new international markets from JFK by the end of the year.
