Day Trip to Capri

The island of Capri is a short distance from the Amalfi coastal town of Sorrento. One of the most renowned locations in all of Italy, it’s easy to get here from Sorrento. A day trip to Capri is very easy to arrange from the shores of Sorrento. Catch a fast boat and prepare to spend a full day.

Getting There

Getting to Capri from Sorrento is easy. Get to the shore by walking down the hill or a short bus ride. Ferries leave from the shore starting at 7:15 a.m. The last boat leaves from the dock at 7:00 p.m. Head for the Marina Piccola. You can buy tickets both in advance and also from the marina. The trip takes about forty minutes. Boats are large so you can find a seat and watch as the island heads into view. If you arrange a tour, this is where you will catch the private boat. Many private touring companies offer hydofoils that can make the trip in less than half an hour.

What You’ll See

Getting around Capri is easy. There’s a funicular from the port that brings you to the main town. At the top, stroll the streets for high end shopping and a chance to enjoy the native lemoncello. Head up the top of the island for a view and then come right back down. You can dip your feet in the toes and enjoy a swim along the blue beaches here. Ferries at the foot of the dock will bring you back home fast.
