Traveling throughout the city of Davao in the Philippines is easier than you might think as long as you know what you’re doing. Various tips will keep you safe and ensure you have reliable transportation.

Taxis and Multi-Cabs

Taxis from the airport area easy to locate. It’s about 45 pesos for the first 400 meters and then 6 pesos for every 500 meters following. A drive to city proper is about 20 minutes away. Jeepneys and multi-cabs are a cheap way to travel around the city once you’re here. These have fixed routes, so it might take a little walking to get to one area or another, but is only around 8 pesos for the first four kilometers.

The Davao International Airport

The Francisco Bangoy International Airport, otherwise known as the Davao International Airport, is the busiest airport on the island. It features a 3 kilometer long runway and serves domestic and international flights alike. It’s operated publicly by the government. The arrival area is small and doesn’t offer many shops. The departure area is much larger and offers check-in counters with conveyors and electronic scales. This is where many shops and restaurants are found.

Unique Forms of Travel

Once on the Island of Mindanao, there are plenty of travel options. Tour buses are a great way to see many of the areas and ensure that there is a native language speaker of your language. There are also boats that will take you to Samal Island, which is where Paradise Island Park is found. It’s five pesos per person or 50 pesos for the whole boat. Hiring a motorcycle is another option, and allows for being able to travel to various locales.
