Bentonville, Arkansas?? Who knew that a fabulous museum of American art could be found in the northwest corner of the State of Arkansas.
Of course, Bentonville is also the home of the Walmart empire. A major source of the funding for The Crystal Bridges Museum of American art came from one of Sam Walton’s children, Alice Walton. The museum is truly magnificent. The buildings housing the works of art are spectacular in their own right. They are built over a beautiful Ozark stream and work as glass enclosed bridges over the stream. The bridges connect the various art galleries.
The museum has hundreds of works of art by famous American painters — too many to cover in this short description. Outdoors there is a sculpture garden with a one mile walking trail. The trail ends in the old town square of Bentonville, Arkansas. Here you find the original Walton store which is now a museum. A trip to Bentonville is well worth the time.
