What do you do on a cruise ship for 109 days? You take classes—that is if you're sailing on the

    Crystal Serenity

    .

    Crystal

has introduced several new enrichment programs to its 2007 world cruise. Courses are free of charge to guests, but there is a fee for earning college credits. The new courses include:

    • Collegiate courses in computers that are eligible for three college credits or continuing education units.
    • A memoir-writing class with journalist and writing teacher Joe Kita.
    • Yamaha keyboard classes focusing on composition, arranging, improvisation, chord studies, and playing by ear.
    • Acting workshops that lead to a show performed by the students for their fellow cruisers.
    • Art classes including new workshops in mosaics, mask-making, and jewelry-making.

According to Crystal, "creative expression through cultural arts and music improves mental agility, language processing, and depression." I can't vouch that these classes will make you smarter and happier, but they do sound like a fun way to pass the time on a four-month cruise.
