Celebrity orders new ship

On Tuesday, Celebrity announced that it had ordered another new ship. This new-build will be the third in the Solstice-class series. The unnamed ship will debut in June 2010, following the Celebrity Solstice in 2008 and Celebrity Equinox in 2009.

According to Celebrity’s chairman and CEO, Richard Fain, “Celebrity’s Solstice class is more than a series of new ships; it’s a new class introducing a new program that will further differentiate and elevate the Celebrity brand.” I believe that’s PR-speak for “this new series of ships will have cool new features you won’t find on other Celebrity ships.”

But the real question is what Celebrity will name its new ship. I’m having trouble coming up with more solstice-related terms. The Celebrity Declination? Or perhaps the cruise line will venture into zodiac names, such as the Celebrity Capricorn?If you have a clever idea for what to christen this new ship, please let me know by emailing cruise@smartertravel.com.
