Cavtat Transportation Cavtat
Cavtat is a small but beautiful coastal town in Croatia. Here are traveler tips on the best ways to get to the city, navigate around the city, and travel to popular nearby destinations.
Getting to Cavtat
Taking a bus is the cheapest way to get into Cavtat from the Dubrovnik airport. Two buses arrive each hour, and the trip should take approximately 25 minutes. When the bus arrives into town, it stops at the cable car station. Note, however, that when you’re taking the bus out of the city, it departs from the local bus station.
You can also take a boat to get into Cavtat from Dubrovnik. While buses are available day and night, you’ll only be able to get a boat ride into the city during the day. The boat rides also take longer than the bus rides, and the trip is more expensive. However, taking a boat into the city can be a more relaxing experience, giving you opportunities to take pictures and enjoy the sights. While bus and boat ride prices fluctuate, expect to pay approximately three to four times more to take boat into Cavtat versus taking a bus.
Taxis are the most expensive way to get from the airport into the city, but you get the convenience of not having to wait around for a bus.
Getting Around in Cavtat
You can take the bus to get around town, and if your goal is to save money, this is probably the best course of action. You can also rent a car or scooter to get around the city–this is the best option if you want to be in complete control of your time. When you’re at the quay, you’ll see multiple ads for car and scooter rental companies. These companies often offer lower prices than the large car rental companies, which have offices in Hotel Croatia. When going through the smaller companies, cars are delivered to you after you make a reservation.
Traveling from Cavtat
Ferries are an easy way to get from Cavtat to nearby islands; however, there are a few things you should be prepared for. Before paying to ride a ferry, make sure you’re certain about what you’re getting into. Sometimes, you’ll see an ad for a ferry ride, but it’s actually more of a boat tour. The boat tours are priced lower than ferry rides. If you’re not concerned about getting to your destination as fast as possible, you may actually want to consider taking a boat tour. Not only will you save money, but you get to visit nearby islands and explore for a few hours until the boat comes back to pick you up again.
