Southern California residents take note: Your drive-to cruise options just increased. Carnival announced that the Elation will homeport in San Diego year-round, offering four- and five-night cruises beginning in June 2007. This move makes Carnival the only cruise line to offer year-round sailings from San Diego, as well as the largest operator on the West Coast.
Currently, the Carnival Spirit offers seasonal eight-night Mexican Riviera cruises from San Diego. The Elation’s new four- and five-night Baja Mexico itineraries will call at Cabo San Lucas and Ensenada.
Not only will these new sailings give Southern California residents more local departures, but cruisers with tight schedules can choose from a greater number of short itineraries. Not surprisingly, short cruises are a rapidly growing segment of the cruise industry.
Fares for the 2007 four- and five-day itineraries out of San Diego start at a reasonable $339 per person. For more information or to book a cruise, visit Carnival’s website or call 888-CARNIVAL (888-227-6482).
