Carlsbad Things to Do
There are lots of things to do in Carlsbad and the surrounding area. Although the Legoland Park may be the first place people think of, there are attractions for every age and inclination.
Besides the ever-present Pacific Ocean and all the sun and fun it offers, the American version of the legendary Danish park has any number of attractions, from Lego-themed rides to a large miniature golf course. There is even a water park. Legoland is too much to see in one visit, so plan to either hit the highlights or spend a couple of days.
Aquarium and Flower Fields
The Sea Life Seaquarium is right next to Legoland but requires much less time commitment. A child can thoroughly explore the place in only an hour, making it a fun treat compared to the large investment of time and money that Legoland may require. The world-famous Flower Fields of Carlsbad are also wonderful for children and adults both. Kids can run through the rows of brightly colored blossoms while the parents walk along and take in the delightful aromas.
Other Things to Do
K1 Speed has an indoor racing track where kids and adults can ride electric-powered high performance go karts at great velocities in a safe environment. You can race against the clock or against other drivers. The annual Carlsbad Brew Fest is also a lot of fun for those over 21. Craft beer producers from all over California come together for an open-air festival with a German theme. The Brew Fest is held in the park, quite close to the Carlsbad Mineral Water Spring. This is an artesian well that lies more than a thousand feet beneath the city and the ocean, dispensing fresh mineral water that is known for its healing properties. A local spa takes advantage of these water to heal and refresh visitors.
