Canada has launched a campaign to encourage gay and lesbian destination weddings by U.S. same-sex couples. The open invitation blends legalized same-sex marriage and tourism to such popular destinations as Montreal, Toronto, and Vancouver.

Destination weddings have been an emerging phenomenon in recent years. Many couples choose to have their weddings away from home because they figure if people are going to travel to a wedding, they may as well go somewhere fun; while others prefer them because it often keeps the guest list small. Same-sex destination weddings, while borne of necessity, offer the same perks to happy couples and their guests.
