Cambridge, Ontario, Things to Do – Attractions & Must See

Cambridge, Ontario, Things to Do

Cambridge is a laid-back kind of town where you can get outdoors and enjoy the recreational activity or spend your time perusing its pleasant main street.

King Street and Churchill Park

Cambridge oozes charm with its stone and cobbled buildings, the Grand River and friendly downtown area. If you want to get a feel for local living, go shopping and have lunch on King Street. You’ll see cute stores, cafes and funky restaurants. There are also some retro and upscale shops to explore. Churchill Park is a gem. With many walking trails and parks to choose from, the park is family-friendly with a large playground. There are also restrooms, picnic facilities and limited camping.

African Lion Safari

One of the big attractions in Cambridge is the African Lion Safari. It is a Canadian-owned family business established in the name of conservation. This is a drive-through safari where the animals roam while you stay in your car (or take the safari bus for an additional fee). The trip through takes about an hour. Admission to the safari includes some other attractions, including a boat tour, train tour and a nice water play area for the kids.

Wings of Paradise

Interested in seeing a variety of butterflies? Then Wings of Paradise is the place to visit. It isn’t a very big place but you can spend an amazing amount of time walking around looking at the variety of butterflies. The conservatory has a great mix of beautiful tropical plants and there are lots of flying critters fluttering about. You get real close up and personal with the butterflies; a great place to take photographs. After you’ve spent time in the conservatory, it’s nice to take a walk on the nature trail that starts right beside the greenhouse.

Other things to check out while in town include the Fashion History Museum.
