Unite—British Airways’ cabin crew union—has announced the dates of its next strikes. During May and June, the cabin crew will walk out for four separate five-day strikes.
The strike dates are:
- May 18 through 22
- May 24 through 28
- May 30 through June 3
- June 5 through June 9
News of these strikes comes a month after reports of progress towards a resolution. The BBC covers details of the events leading up to this latest strike announcement.
These dates are too early to affect peak summer travel, but the strikes could cause plenty of headaches for travelers taking advantage of the pre-summer Europe shoulder season, known for smaller crowds and better prices. This is probably a good time to mention that Carl Unger recently outlined passenger rights in an airline strike.
During the last strike, British Airways kept its website updated with news and contact information for passengers flying during the union actions, and it looks like they’ll be doing the same this time.
Are you booked to fly with British Airways during one of the strike dates? Were you affected by the last strike? Do you have any tips to share with other readers about managing travel?
