I recently went to Arizona, flew into Phoenix via Southwest Airlines and could not believe how great the trip was. Southwest was ontime, polite, friendly, didn’t charge for luggage!! Used Fox car rentals and was happy except for their push at the counter to take a more expensive rental. Also had to tie up a big deposit because I used my debit card. Stayed first at Best Western at Grand Canyon had a nice clean room close to the Canyon, breakfast included. Staff was good. Then, drove through Sedona which was awesome. I didn’t want to leave the little town or stop giving the boulders shape names.
The best part of the trip however was staying at The Boulders Resort and Spa in Carefree, outside of Phoenix. As soon as you enter the staff was unbelievable, so genuine and friendly. Service is an understatement. Our cassita was like a townhouse and overlooked the beautiful golf course. I did not golf, but took advantage of the Spa. It was a dream come true. The restaurants on site are very expensive but at least the food was delicious. Off premises we enjoyed The Station, Mexican and Italian food. The grounds are so lovely with cactus, landscaped in between huge boulders. The cactus and boulders have wonderful shapes and the wildlife so fun and exciting. I was able to snag a great rate for the cassita at 99.00 a night but it was an end of summer special. We enjoyed the Indian cultural/museums and visited nearby Scottsdale as well. I would highly recommend The Boulders to spa people, golfers, and families as well as romantics. The kids will enjoy the pools and golf-cart rides. Great for romantics as the sunsets and sunrises are unforgettable, and you get privacy in the cassitas. The staff was genuinely interested that we have a wonderful time, were so friendly and down to earth, I can’t wait to go back.
