Boracay Island Shopping
Boracay is a small island in the Phillipines, south of Manila. With its white sand beaches, oceanview resorts, and variety of malls and markets, Boracay is a shopper’s paradise.
Talipapa
Talipapa, a filipino word that is roughly translated to “market” or “fish market” in english, is one of the main places to shop while in Boracay. While the original Talipapa burned down a few years ago, another one has since taken its place. With over 50 stalls, vendors sell all kinds of goods, from t-shirts and leather bracelets to sarongs and lamps. The market is located near Boat Station 3 and White Beach. Try to arrive early if you can, as the area can get rather crowded later in the day.
D’Mall
D’Mall is another favorite amongst visitors to the island. D’Mall starts at the Budget Mart on the Main Road and extends to White Beach. Here you’ll find stalls, kiosks, and shops. Vendors sell fresh seafood, fruit, and vegetables, as well as clothing, hats, and souvenirs. Restaurants are also scattered throughout the area, so it’s a great place to grab something to eat and drink in between stores. D’Mall is worth a visit, but it can be stressful, so bring your patience. Vendors are extremely competitive and they aren’t shy. Be confident and don’t be afraid to barter. As long as you stay alert and keep your head about you, D’Mall will be a pleasant, exciting experience.
Plazoleta
Plazoleta is a third, smaller shopping area that can be found on White Beach. The market may not have as many stalls as the others, but it arguably has the best quality of filipino crafts and jewelry. Local artists camp out at Plazoleta for an opportunity to sell their drawings, carvings, ceramics, and other wares. If you collect art or if you’re looking for a unique souvenir to bring home, stop by Plazoleta. Chances are you’ll find something that you wouldn’t find anywhere else on the island.
