Bocas del Toro is home to a series of islands full of amazing wildlife. There are many ways to get here to get started on your trip. Take a boat or hop a plane and you’ll be in one of the loveliest parts of Panama.

Getting Here by Air 

Getting here by air requires first getting to Panama. From there, you can catch a flight via Air Panama. Air Panama offers two daily flights from Panama City. If you’re already in Panama, you can fly into Boca del Toro for a small additional fee.

Getting Here From Costa Rica 

Another way to get to Bocas del Toro is by boat from other parts of Central America. You can take a bus from Costa Rica along the coastal road. Once there, get on a boat for a scenic trip to the islands.

Getting Here by Boat From Panama 

Two main water taxi ports head from mainland Panama to Bocas del Toro. Almirante is the port that’s further from the Costa Rican border. It’s less scenic but  it runs every 40 minutes from 6 a. m.- 6 p.m. It’s also cheaper. Your other option is a Changuinola water taxi. This is more expensive but it’s a scenic trip that takes about an hour and brings you past villages and banana plantations.

Getting Around by Boat 

You can walk around the major island or rent a bike. Short water taxis also are plentiful. This is a good way to get around cheaply and see as many of the islands as possible in a single trip.
