J-Pillow Travel Pillow Review

J-Pillow Travel Pillow Review

Price and Where to Buy J-Pillow Travel Pillow: $25 on Amazon.com

Pros: The pillow is extremely soft and feels nice against the skin. It has just the right amount of firmness, and holds its shape without pushing the head too far forward when in place. It didn’t lead to any post-flight neck pain or headaches (a not uncommon occurrence) even though it doesn’t hold the spine in a neutral position. Best of all, it actually facilitated sleep.

Cons: It’s not a small travel pillow, and since it’s not inflatable, it doesn’t get any smaller for transporting. Also, it looks vaguely phallic, which could draw looks from sleep-deprived fellow passengers. Because it was so soft, it didn’t grip the seat fabric at all and caused minor position adjustment issues during the otherwise-pleasant drift into sleep.

How J-Pillow Travel Pillow Rates:

  • Usefulness: 9/10. This is one of the best neck pillows I’ve used. And it was great to emerge from a long flight with no sleep-related neck pain.
  • Value: 8/10. The Amazon price of $25 (rather than the J-pillow suggested retail price of $53) still puts it at the higher end of the travel pillow spectrum. But it earns its place by being one of the most comfortable travel pillows available.
  • Durability: 7/10. Since it doesn’t fold up (and has no stuff sack or protective case), the J-Pillow can’t be tidily stashed when you’re not using it. It does have a loop so it could be hung on a bag strap for the trip through the airport. But simply because it’s a larger pillow that doesn’t get smaller for transport, it’s more exposed to wear while accompanying you on your travels.
  • Cool Factor: 8/10. The power to sleep on a plane is cool. End of story.

Final Verdict: For anyone looking for comfort above all, this is one of the best choices we’ve found. But if you’re trying to travel very light, its larger size may be a problem.
