My husband decided to surprise me for my birthday this year. We’d been married almost 16 years and this was the first time for this type of surprise. I was thrilled by the prospect and wanted to be kept in the dark but, as the primary vacation planner in our family, I wanted desperately to know where we were going. All he would tell me was, “it’s not too far from here (home)”. Despite some directional challenges (I’m also the family navigator, hard to do when the destination is a secret) – we entered the Safety Harbor, FL city limits. I’ve never been there so I’m intrigued and still unsure if this is our final destination. The main street through town dead ends at the Safety Harbor Resort and Spa – we had arrived!
Our room was a beautiful corner unit with expansive windows on two walls overlooking Tampa Bay. The ornate king bed and in-room chaise lounge felt decadent and I was the Queen! The resort is waterfront with roomy grounds and an entertaining pool scene. A poolside grill and bar mixed with energetic music and fantastic weather was a made a memorable afternoon. This resort is within walking distance of downtown Safety Harbor, restaurants & shops. Next time I will take advantage of the onsite spa. To any husbands reading this: surprise your wife – they will adore you for it!
