Austin, the capital of Texas, offers a wide range of festivals and activities for visitors. To take advantage of all that it has to offer, follow these Austin packing tips.
Weather in Austin is warm, especially during the summer. However, it can also become rather humid as well. When visiting Austin in the summer, pack loose-fitting, light-material clothing. Pack a few more shirts than you think you'll need, because you'll sweat more than you're used to in the humidity. Also, don't forget your sunglasses. If you're visiting during the winter months, pack a comfortable sweatshirt; the temperature can drop drastically, especially overnight.
Clothes to Pack
Whether you're visiting Austin for a football game, to experience the state capital, or to take in one of the major festivals, make sure to bring a camera. Cell phone cameras are fine for spur of the moment pics, but a full-featured camera is better when on tours or other activities.
Electronics to Pack
Before you head out for the day, there are a few items you need to toss into your purse or day bag. First, make sure you have water. If you're not used to the heat, you'll become thirsty far sooner. Toss in some fast-absorbing sunscreen as well. You should bring and wear a hat while in Austin, especially at midday. A sun hat or a baseball cap will help you see better and protect your eyes. Any classic toiletries can either be bought at a local pharmacy or taken from home.
