Arnhem’s Korenmarkt is the square in the centre of the old city surrounded by terraced cafes and bars, which also extend into its side streets. Because it is so compact, it makes for an ideal meeting place, and you can see what’s happening everywhere else in the square.  From door to door café’s, bars, dance clubs, discotheques and restaurants, there are all sorts of things to do at night in the alleys of this cozy part of Arnhem.

Cafes and Coffee Shops in Arnhem

The terrace of Cafe Sint Jan, with its row of gas-heaters, is particularly inviting on cold evenings. This is a pleasantly laid-back cafe with swift, friendly, service and a good range of beers. In Arnhem there are also several coffee shops with a soft policy on certain ‘recreational substances.’ For those looking for the famous Amsterdam mind-altering experiences, these are the places to go.

Arnhem Clubs and Dancing

Not many discotehques, café’s, dancings and bars stand the test of time but the Swing club founded in 1977 certainly has. While most clubs in Arnhem close at 2:00 AM, some people will go to Club Manhattan to dance, since they close at 6:00. De Katoenclub, or Cottonclub in English, is the best Jazz-club in Arnhem. Every weekend they have live on stage jazz and motown performances from local as well as international guests.
