Backpacker bars have a laid back pub type of atmosphere. You can get a beer and a meal at Beaches, which is a popular outdoors bar. It’s attached to the backpacker’s accommodation, so it closes at midnight. The bar is made up of large tables, and it’s a great way to socialize and meet new people.
Magnum’s has an indoor area as well as an outdoor seating area similar to Beaches. It’s one of the biggest bars in Airlie, and they have a different theme every night. Monday is Foam Party night. Other themes include Wet T-shirt contests, pole dancing contests, and 70s-80s night. If you are up for a lively party Magnum’s is a great place to find it.
For something more classy, you can take a Banana Winds cruise. The cruise leaves at sunset, and provides you with unlimited champagne and snacks. It’s a great way to start your evening.
The Juice Bar plays club and dance music. The club has two rooms. The first room has the dance floor. The other room is called the chill out room, and they are separated by a wall of empty fish tanks. The staff is friendly and the club stays cool all night. You’ll find locals as well as tourists at the Juice Bar.
Mama Africa is an Africa themed bar. It’s pretty quiet until the Beaches bar shuts down at midnight, then many of the patrons go to Mama Africa.
