Monday, March 31 will be the last day for Aloha‘s passenger flight operations, including inter-island and transpacific routes.
“Unfortunately, unfair competition has succeeded in driving us out of business, bringing to an end a 61-year-old company with a proud legacy of serving millions of travelers in the true spirit of Aloha,” said Aloha’s president and CEO David Banmiller. “We realize that this comes as a devastating disappointment to our frequent flyers and our loyal business partners who have supported this company for many, many years.” The unfair competition Banmiller mentioned likely refers to upstart carrier go!, which offers ultra-low inter-island service.
If you have a confirmed reservation on Aloha for travel after March 31, United and Hawaiian are prepared to assist Aloha passengers. If you prefer to cancel your trip altogether, you should contact your credit card company or travel agent to request a refund. If you paid by check or cash, you will have to file a report with the bankruptcy court. Aloha has provided answers to other questions in an FAQ page on its website.
