Airport parking tips for the holiday season

If you're going to be flying this holiday season and are planning on driving yourself to the airport, there are ways to make parking less of a hassle. Two websites currently allow you to reserve your parking in advance, book and pay online, then arrive at your predetermined spot and head off on your way.

    AirportParkingReservations.com

provides parking at private lots near your airport of choice. This site also searches nearby hotels that offer free shuttles to and from the airport. I found rates for Christmas week quoted at $30 in Los Angeles, $47 in Chicago, and $80 in Boston. Pay one day's rate online with a credit card to secure the reservation, then pay the parking operator the remaining balance once you arrive.

    The

    Park 'N Fly Network

also offers advance booking at airports across the country. When I checked, Christmas week prices were $51 in Miami, $59 in Dallas, and $122 in New York (LaGuardia).

Of course, before you book, be sure to balance the cost of parking against the price of taking a shuttle service, taxi, or (the most economical choice) getting a ride from friends or family.
