Cedar Rapids

About

Although longtime resident Grant Wood painted his famous American Gothic here, the city of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is much more than a farm town. As the second-largest metropolitan area in the state, the city offers plenty of entertainment. Visitors can enjoy a night at the ballpark with the Kernels, hockey with the RoughRiders, or catch a race at Hawkeye Downs Speedway. The Brucemore, a 21-room mansion, offers tours of the nineteenth century home, as well as theatrical and musical events throughout the year. Tourists can also peruse classic automobiles and motorcycles at Duffy's Collectible Cars and the nearby National Motorcycle Museum. Cedar Rapids is proud of its legacy as the childhood home of the Wright brothers, and today flights to Cedar Rapids land at the Eastern Iowa Airport, about 17 minutes away.
