Cox’s Bazar Travel Guide

Cox’s Bazar Travel Guide

Cox’s Bazar is a small town and port in southern Bangladesh. This quaint little sea town boasts the world’s longest sea beach – over 120 km of unbroken sand! Combine this with the tropical climate and Cox’s Bazar should land fairly high on any beach-goers destination list.

Activities

Since the beach is the main draw to this small sea town, most of the activities here will revolve around the water. Surfing, swimming, fishing and general aquatic revelry are the most obvious options. However, if you’d much rather keep your feet dry, there are several other nearby attractions so long as you’re willing to walk. The nearby villages all have Buddhist temples that are well worth a look as well as local craftspeople who create all sorts of wares for your perusal. Being so close to the sea, there is plenty of pearl and shell jewelry and sandalwood-based beauty products as well as hand-woven clothing and textiles to be found.

Food

Most restaurants, shops, and bars will be along the main strip where all the hotels are located. It’s here you’ll be able to find a quick snack between waves. Most locals will strongly recommend you try a green coconut or a mountain banana, local delicacies to Cox’s Bazar. They will also point you to one of a myriad of seafood restaurants along this strip, all serving delicious Bangladeshi fare for fairly competitive prices. The Mermaid Café, the Jhawban Restaurant and the Poushee Restaurant are all very popular spots. Be sure to try the fried fish!
