Nightlife in Tokyo – A Night Out in Ginza

Ginza, a vibrant neighborhood of sprawling Tokyo, has a thrilling nightlife if you know where to go.

Tokyo: Nightlife in Ginza and Other Nightlife

Like most of Tokyo, Ginza is one of the most expensive areas in the world. It’s is home to a lot of pricey shopping, dining, and bars, but know you are getting what you’ll pay for.

Most places have a high-end dress code, and require anywhere from business casual to a suit. If you are told that a place is for Japanese only, it usually means that you haven’t met their dress code.

The Kabuki Theater

The ancient Japanese theater, the Kabuki, is a must-see when you are in Ginza. There are English translations available online. The performers wear fantastic masks and costumes.

Dress Code: No jeans, business casual.

Address: Chuo-ku
Directions: The Ginza Subway line runs mostly south of the center of Tokyo. If you are in Hatchibori or someplace east of the Tskiji Fish market, hop on that line and go west to the Ginza (or Higashi ginza) exit. Or take a taxi.

Mid-Blue International Bar

The Mid-Blue International Bar is a great place for visitors and locals alike to relax in a comfortable setting. There is a nice variety of drinks – with international beer, and there’s always a performance planned with affordable pricing.

Cost: Men – 3500 yen. Women – 2500 yen.
Directions: Close to Ginza station – exit at B6 and walk three minutes down the road.
