Jersey Things To Do – Attractions & Must See

Jersey Things To Do

The historic island of Jersey lies off the coast of England. Come here to walk charming village paths, see ancient castles and relax along the surf. Castles, villages and private beaches are the attractions in this United Kingdom island.

Mont Orgueil Castle

Mont Orgueil or Gorey castle is an ancient castle that overlooks the harbor. Begun in 1204, it is one of the oldest castles on the island. It served as the island’s defense when this was a major point of contention between England and France.

Tour the Village

The scenic village of St. Aubin is a tranquil spot. There’s a three mile path that is level and well-kept. Take a walk along the path or bring your bike. Bring the kids along for a view of the bay.

Market Day on Royal Square

This is where locals used to gather to sell everything from fish to fowl. Today it’s a shaded square with lots of pubs. There’s a weekly market with lots of fresh fish and all kinds of homemade craft items. Look for Piquet House in the square. Once a military guard house, it is still in use today.

Private Plemont Bay

One of the most secluded beaches on the island, this is the place to come if you want to escape the crowds during the summer. The beach is underwater at high tide. Get a timetable in advance to find out when the tide’s out. Then head here for a quiet few hours of surfing, swimming picnicing and sand. In between, head up the high cliffs behind the beach for a view across the channel.
